Preparation was key for CNBC co-anchor David Faber when it came to guest hosting Jeopardy!
Before stepping up to the lectern, David gathered his friends to rehearse for the role and tested out his skills playing a homespun version of the game.
“A bunch of my friends showed up to be contestants, to have me be there, and then a few others just to listen and critique,” he explained. “It actually ended up being very helpful.”
As a former Celebrity Jeopardy! champion himself, David wanted to ensure the players had the best experience.
“I wanted to be good for the contestants,” David said. “This is an awfully important day for them and I didn’t want to disappoint them.”
David has selected the Robin Hood Foundation, New York City’s largest poverty-fighting organization, as his charity of choice. Jeopardy! will make a contribution to the foundation based on the cumulative winnings of all contestants who compete during his week of shows.
“New York has always had a lot of people who are having a rough go,” David said. “So, I wanted to try to focus on my hometown.”
So far, this season’s guest host appearances have raised over $2 million for charity.
Tune in August 2-6 to catch David guest host and to see how much more the contestants raise!
