Catherine Whitten and I met during the filming of the Jeopardy! Teachers Tournament in January of 2012.

We sat near each other on the bus to the studio, but I was too nervous to talk. After the second day of taping, several of the contestants went out on the town to blow off some steam.

That's where Catherine and I first started talking, and after one of her students joked during our airdates that our kids would be brilliant and beautiful evil geniuses, we started talking a lot more seriously. She was in Dallas and I was in Kansas City, so it was a long-distance relationship with some pretty infrequent meetings.

In the summer of 2013, we found out (surprise!) that we were having a beautiful (and, yes, very smart) baby boy, and we got married on January 24, 2015, the third anniversary of our last day of taping at Sony Pictures Studios.

We knew getting invited to the tournament would be a life-changing experience, but we never realized it would create our life-defining relationships!
